Watching America (www.watchingamerica.com) is currently seeking volunteer translators to translate foreign news stories in all languages about the United States into English. You do not need prior translating experience to do this. You must be available to find and translate at least one article every two weeks. Applicants will be asked to translate a test article. While this is a volunteer position, it allows for flexibility with respect to how you wish to work at or above the one article per two week minimum. Each translator receives a byline on published articles, and the work helps build your resume, comes with an offer of a solid letter of recommendation from Robin Koerner, president and publisher of Watching America, and gets your name on an internationally acclaimed website.
Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is recognized in the U.S. and abroad, and has been featured on the BBC, NPR, Foreign Policy Magazine, The Guardian and The Village Voice. The project depends on a team of volunteers who have a passion for the idea of breaking down the final barrier among peoples of the world — the language barrier.
